How to Mark Tasks as Completed

Timelines are critical in M&A. FirmRoom’s requests feature helps you manage tasks on your schedule while keeping stakeholders aligned. In this article, we’ll show you how to mark requests as complete to keep your deal moving forward.


Note for Administrators: The specific status options available (e.g., "Open," "In Progress," "Reopened," "Resolved") can be customized by an administrator. If you are an admin, you can access and modify these options by navigating to Settings > General > Request statuses.


There are two primary ways to mark a request as completed:


1. Marking a Request from the Worklist View (Quick Update)


To quickly update a request without opening its full details, you can change the status right from your worklist:

  1. Go to Worklists: Use the left-hand navigation to open the Worklists section and select the relevant list (e.g., Due Diligence).
  2. Find the Request: Locate the request you want to update.
  3. Update the Status: In the Status column, click the current status (e.g., Open, In Progress).
  4. Select “Resolved”: Choose Resolved from the dropdown to mark it as complete.


2. Marking a Request from the Request Details Pane


If you’re already viewing the full request, you can update the status directly from there:

  1. Open the Request: From your FirmRoom dashboard, go to the relevant Worklist and click the request you want to update. This opens the Request Details pane with the task description, attachments, and communication history.
  2. Find the Status Field: On the right side, look for the Status section. It’s typically set to Open by default.
  3. Select Resolved: Click the current status to open a dropdown, then choose Resolved to mark the request as complete.


3. Bulk Marking Requests as Resolved


For worklists with a large number of requests, you can mark multiple requests as resolved simultaneously. This is often used to resolve an entire worklist without individually reviewing each request.


To do this, select the requests you wish to update by checking the box next to their ID. Then, click on the Status button at the top of the table. A pop-up menu will appear where you can select Resolved to update all selected requests at once.


Warning: Use this feature with caution. Bulk marking requests as resolved will change the status for all selected items without individual review.


No matter which method you use, once a request is marked Resolved, the status updates instantly—giving you and your team a clear visual cue that the task is complete. This small step helps keep your worklists accurate and your deal moving smoothly.
